And to make things more confusing...norwegian "gaardstun"......a
farmyard
with a fence around it, so the cows can't get in.... and islandic tun.
Green patch of grassland, fenced soothe cows can't get in.

Due to Dutch influence, the meaning of the word _tuun_ in Zeeuws is

shifting from 'fence' to 'garden'. The original Zeelandic word for
garden is
_'of_ or _hof_. I believe that the same change also occurs in other
areas in
The Netherlands and Flanders.
A word like _teêltuun_ for a rack that is used for storing bowls and
pails,
is however still quite well-known throughout Zeeland. Bowls are _teêlen_
or
_teêln_ in Zeeuws; litterally a '_teêltuun_ is a 'fence' where you hang
your
bowls and pails to dry.

The Low Saxon (Low German) cognate (/hov/) _Hoff_ ~ _Hof_ ([hOf], plural
_Hööv(')_ [hø:.v] ~ [h9:.v] (< _Höve_) or _Höven_ ['hø:vm=] ~ ['h9:vm=])
means 'yard' or 'farm(stead)', as does the German cognate _Hof_ ([ho:f],
plural _Höfe_ ['hø:f@]).

I take it _teêl_ 'bowl' ('dish'?) is a cognate of Dutch _tegel_ 'tile',
Low Saxon (Low German) _Tegel_ (['te:gl=], masculine, plural _Tegeln_) ~
_Teigel_ (['ta.Igl=], plural _Teigeln_) 'tile', German _Ziegel_ 'tile',
and English _tile_ (Old English _tigele_ < Latin _tegula_ 'tile' <
_tegere_ 'to lay').  If so, what is 'tile' in Zeelandic?

In Northern Low Saxon (Low German), a shallow bowl, or rather 'dish', is
_Satt_ or _Sett_ ([zat] ~ [zEt], feminine, plural with _-en_) or
_Kumm(e)_ ([kU.m(e)], feminine, plural _Kümm(en)_ [kY.m]), in some
dialects _Kump_.  A deeper bowl is also called _Kumm_ ~ Kump_ in some
dialects, in others _Schöttel_ (['S9tl=], feminine, plural with _-n_) or
_Fatt_ ([fat], neuter, plural _Fatten_ ['fatn=] ~ _Fööt_ [fø:t] ~
[f9:t]).

I guess it's a 'dish rack'.
