Would Sylvain Lavoie care to identify this person, and his/her
credentials?

(my emphasis).
The bias here is so obvious it hardly need to be pointed out.

They didn't give they country the name "Scotland". The name they
gave it was "Alba"; and their name for one of their own people was
"Gaidheal".
The name "Scot" was given by the Romans and no-one knows how it was
derived. The name "Scots" for the language, comes from its time as the
state
language of a (multi-ethnic) nation called Scotland.

This is absurd. Gaelic is dying out because many Gaelic speakers
don't pass it on to their children. There are a variety of reasons why
this happens, but confusion about ancestry is not one of them.

By the way, in case Sylvain Lavoie hadn't noticed, official policy
nowadays is to promote Gaelic, whereas Scots is (de facto) still
suppressed.

Colin Wilson.
