Dear Lowlanders,

In a separate posting ("Language policies") I will pass on some
information taken from the latest issue of _contact bulletin_ (March
2002, vol. 18, No. 1), which I just received in the mail. The bulletin
is published by the European Bureau of Lesser Used Languages (EBLUL) and
is financed by the European Commission.

Just now when I responded to their request to update their mailing list,
I took Mathieu van Woerkom's advice and added a note to it offering help
with putting some information about "Low German" onto the web pages for
minority languages in Germany at the EBLUL site (http://www.eblul.org/).
Of course I do not know if they will take me up on it. I encourage other
Lowlands-L subscribers to help with their respective minority languages
too. It is important to get the information out there, and someone has
to do it. I can see that at least the Scots page could do with some
help, and under "Germany" we need a reference to and some information
about Sater(land) (East) Frisian and North Frisian varieties, since the
information given so far is heavy on Westerlauwer ("West") Frisian of
the Netherlands.

If you are interested in the EBLUL bulletin and wish to know when a new
online version is published, you can ask to be added to an email list,
and you can also request a biannual paper copy (which I understand is
more detailed).
