European Lowlands and their language varieties.

The map is well realised and looks very professional. It will be an
excellent addition to the website.

However: I am probably being dim, but I am unclear about what it
actually depicts. Does it show a snapshot of the extent and distribution
of the Lowlands languages at a particular point in time? If so, which
point in time? If not, what state of affairs does it show? Apologies for
being slow on the uptake...

Hello, Nigel!

Thanks for responding (above).

I'll let Mathieu respond to your questions himself. There was some
discussion about it bouncing around between him, Sandy and myself, and I
think we ended up with some sort of compromise. It became quite obvious
that no two people would have done it the same way, and perhaps there *is*
no "right" way.

Talking about "resources," Lowlanders, ... we would still welcome help with
our "Lowlands Talk" project, which is a series of introductory "blurbs"
(with language samples) to the Lowlands language varieties. We have done
quite a bit on it already but still need some help writing and translating.
The link to the series on our homepage will lead to an "under construction"
page as long as the project is not at a stage where it is presentable. If
you wish to help speed it up, please contact me (sassisch at yahoo.com or
admin at lowlands-l.net).

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
