Gegroet, allen!

Ik heb het woord _lawaai_ altijd ingedeeld bij de sterk onomatopoeische
woorden. Zo kent het Afrikaans ook de woorden bohaai (koude drukte) en
poehaai (poeha).
Waarschijnlijk hoort _lawaai_ ook in dit rijtje thuis, net als het Franse
_brouhaha_ wat ook _poeha_ betekent. Waarschijnlijk is _lawaai_  een woord
dat spontaan, los van duidelijke etymologie, is ontstaan.
Vergelijk verder _lawaaibomenhout_; een gemeenzame term voor slecht,
breekbaar hout (dat van bomen komt die gemakkelijk breken en omvallen
[bijvoorbeeld door wind]).
