Many thanks for your kind words.

Yes it is true that the development of the affricate
in English started generally in southern England (thus
_church_ vs. _kirk_; _bridge_ vs. _brig_; _hedge_ vs.
_heck_). It is interesting that the vowel seems the
same in Sint Omaars.

Yes, Scots also has _thole_ like Gothic _thulan_.
