As for M.S word and Icelandic thorn -you need to insert Icelandic. In
window M.E got to - settings- control panel, keyboard - language - add -and
then chose Icelandic. You will probably need your disk for M.S word. Then
shut down your p.c and reboot. Then on the bottom right of your screen you
should see the chose of languages you want to use - chose Icelandic. For
thorn you need to type the and then the "/" key on the standard keyboard
for"þ" and the "[" key to give you edth: ð.

Those interested in Gaelic and want the grave accent " ` " above vowels -
do the same and chose English - Ireland ( for some reasons they think this
accent is part of English in Ireland - and I haven't found the sign for the
acute accent - but since it isn't used any more in Scottish Gaelic I haven't
bothered to find it ). Then same again - chose English Ireland - and when
you want an accent then hit the " ` " key on the "normal" keyboard - then
type the vowel -and it will be above it like "mòr" -(hope you can see this
o.k )

these instructions are for windows M.E -but it should be similar in other
versions of windows.

Chris Ferguson
