subject: Language varieties

I can chalk one up for the phonological thread.

Hello, Lowlanders, I am back from beautiful, and I mean beautiful, Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico. I had never heard the phenomena that Ron is describing
before I heard a bible teacher on the radio. His name is J. Vernon MacGee.
In his words, "Thayat Mayan Jesus is 'ummel." I had never heard such a thing
in English of any sort, and at times it still surprises me. He is from
Texas, and he does not delete final s or any of the stops. I only hear him
say ummel for humble.
