AFTER switching, Ron:

just the same here, but for Western Europe (ISO).

It did work well for the whole time!

Frankly, I don't know when this started, but it was in the last 48 hours,
and it is definitely continuing, so certainly subsequently.

Thanks, Fiete and Ed.

This is peculiar, considering that I set my send mode to Unicode and
received all test messages in Unicode when I sent them to myself.

I wonder if something changes if I paste in text that was sent to me in a
different encoding, usually from Western Europe (ISO) mode.  It wouldn't
surprise me, given that Microsoft products tend to be "overprogrammed" to
meet imagined needs of "techno-dummies."
