Kippel kappel?

As kids growing up in the country side we also playes in the hey
etc..and we played a game we called stokje gooien. Or wippen. It was a
bit like base ball but in stead of a ball you used a stick as ball, and
you used the other stick to hit the stick, or it was on the ground and
you stuck the other stick under it and had to flip it as far away as
possible, and the ones flipping it furthest won. It was rather
complicated. You had to play the "ballstick" three times in three
different ways. So I do think this is the same game...we lived in the
middle of salland overijssel at that time. That was 35 years ago.

Stokje wippen we called it.

Bye from

Wim.

Wim,

Thanks! That seems to be it -- the same game, though perhaps with
slight variation. Thanks for reminding me of the details. (It's been
too many years than I care to count.) What I described was merely the
kickoff part.

I wonder if similar games are played elsewhere and if we are dealing
with something (predominantly) Lowlandic. I'd be surprised if this was
still being played these days. It can hardly compete with electronic
games, can it? But it sure was very low-cost.

Cheerio!
Reinhard/Ron
