Thanks for explaining this - I've often wondered how my Scots
text site would come across on such readers. As far as I can
see, there's not much I can do to help such a text reader within
Scots. I'd like to make some audio files of some of the best
texts on the site (songs, recitations and prose readings),
but since I'm deaf I first have to find someone who has the
skills, time and patience to help me to make the recordings and
make sure they're audible, because I wouldn't be able to tell!

Which is of course one good argument for having a regularized
'pan-dialect' orthography for languages Like Scots and Low Saxon etc.
Are visually impared users of these languages to be eternally
disadvantaged because certain circles consider orthographic
regularisation unfashionable?
