English has "strengths" - one vowel, eight consonants - probably the longest
English word with one vowel.  Or are you asking about consecutive consonants
(uninterrupted by vowels)?

Ah, good one, Kevin!

Might that be the reason why I hear so many people pronounce it as though it
was spelled *<strenth>?

(Nah! /NT/ is a difficult sequence -- velar+dental -- so /N/ -> /n/, i.e.,
assimilation.)

(Oh, and it was Luc Vanbrabant you were quoting there.)
