QUOTE
Gabriele, Lowlanders,
Consider the "reverse" false friends:

German | Dutch
verwesen 'decompose' | verwezen 'infatuated', 'besotten'
verwest 'decomposed' | verweezd 'orphaned'
UNQUOTE

betekenis 'thunderstruck' of zo iets.
echter
zeker en vast in ieder geval.

groetjes

Georg

Another one Dutchmen are confronted with when crossing into
Germany by car is the frequent occurrence and excellent sign-
posting of funerals: every Autobahn exit is indicated by a
large sign 'Ausfahrt'. In Dutch, uitvaart is synonymous for
funeral.

It would seem from these admittedly few examples that false
friends tend to be related to death and decay.
