How was that pronounced? Any idea? I think that my Twente dialect has
another archaism there, probably pronouncing it the same as MS (while
writing it "book", as in English, yet thinking about switching to
writing "bouk"). I really have to make some sound recordings soon. I
can't describe sounds very well, so I better let them speak for themselves.

I don't think anyone really knows, but most people seem to assume that those
were simply long "o"s: [o:].  At some point in time, though, if not already
then, diphthongization must have taken place (as also in the case of <ē> and
<ê>).  In some modern dialects, there is a distinction between monophthong
[o:] and diphthong [o.U] ~ [a.U], and all of them distinguish monophthong
[e:] ~ [E:] and diphthong [e.I] ~ [a.I]; e.g.,

oog' (<Oog(')>) ['?o:.G] (< oge) 'eye'
     (cf. German _Auge_ ['?aUg@], Dutch _oog_ [o:g] ~ [oUg])
our (<Ohr> ~ <Uhr>) [?o.U3`] ~ [?u:3`] 'ear'
     (cf. German _Ohr_ [?o:3`], Dutch _oor_ [o:r])

beden (<beden> ~ <bäden>) ['be:dn=] ~ ['bE:dn=] 'to request',
     'to pray'
     (cf. German _bitten_ ['bIt at n] & _beten_ ['be:t at n],
     Dutch _bidden_ ['bId@(n)])
beyden (<beden> ~ <beiden>) ['be.Idn=] ~ ['bE.Idn=] ~ [ba.Idn=]
     'to offer'
     (cf. German _bieten_ ['bi:t at n], Dutch _bieden_ ['bi:d@(n)])
