Jao, wy in Tweante brukt wat daet der wal eyn luette bet op lik. Wy segt
vake "optrommen" when we mean to tell someone to hit the road.

Jonny, Ron, is there any etymological relationship with
trim (E. buff, skinny} or to trim (like a X-mas tree)

I doubt it.  Apparently it has something to do with legs, with "legging it" 
= "traveling on foot," so to speak.

The assumedly older form _trumer_ is probably the origin of the _optrommen_ 
our Henry mentions above.  I am guessing that it made its way up north from 
Flemish.
