Leyve Reinhard, leyve Lowlanners,

in uns LS hebbt wi twee vigeliinsche Wöör', de foken mengleert un in dennen
verkeihrten Sinn bruukt ward:

_all_[al]: G:'schon', E: 'already' (LS:'Wi sünd all dor.'; G: 'Wir sind
schon da.'; E: 'We are already there/here.')
_al_/_aal_[a:l]: G:'alle', E:'all' (LS:'Wi sünd al/aal dor.'; G: 'Wir sind
alle da.'; E: 'We are all there/here).'
Wi kunnen seggen: 'Al de Vogels sünd all dor.'; G: 'Alle Vögel sind schon
da.'; E: 'All the birds are already there (here).'

Johannes Beyer schrivvt in sin Gedicht:

St. Niklas

Kiek ins, wat is de Himmel so rot!
Dat sünd de Engels, se backt dat Brot;
De backt den Wienachtsmann sin Stuten
För *_aal_* de lütten Leckersnuten.

Nu flink de Tellers ünner´t Bett,
un leggt ju hin un west recht nett!
St. Niklas, de steiht vör de Dör;
de Wiehnachtsmann, de schickt em her.

Wat de Engels hevvt backt, dat schüllt ji probeern,
un smeckt dat good, so hört se dat gern,
un de Wiehnachtsmann smunzelt: "Nu backt man mehr!"-
Och, wenn´t doch man erst Wiehnachten weer!

Hamborg bit Nör'n, sou bruukt worr'n as *wi* dat boben schreeben hebbt.

Wat meent Ji- wat is k'rrekt?

Vörwiehnachtliche Greutens

But no, our Jonny is still on the market... time for everybody to rekindle
their fondest hopes! ;-)

Jonny,

Na myn verscheel schullen dey twey woyrd' lyk schreven warden (AS: al). Sey
koymen vun d'n sülvigen born af (vergl. Ingelsch _all_ un _*al*ready_,
Deensch _al_ ~ _alt_ ~ alle_ un _*alle*rede_). In d'n sin vun "schon" wardt
dat jümmers kort uut-spraken, wyl dat 't mayst ny nich betoond wardt. In
d'n sin vun "alle" wardt 't meyrsttyds 'n beten meyr betoond, un den dayt de
regel gellen: V -> V:\l ('n sülvstluud ward wat langer (man nich heyl un
deyl lang) voer "l"). (_Al_ [?a:\l] 'all' vs _aal_ [?Q:l] ~ [?o:l] 'eel')
Wen ik sachtens un langsaam snak, den spreek ik _al_ ("schon") ook mit 'n
halv-langen or langen sülvstluud uut: _al_ [?a:\l].

Gabriele, I haven't given you your *real* Hawaiian name yet (the "peanut"
thing being merely a nickname, of course). So let me go into a quicky
kahunic altered state of consciousness ... just a moment, please ... All
right. I'm back. Here we go:

'Ō'io'io-loko-Ululā'au
(< *Kookiokio-roto-Hururaakau)
lā'au (wood, timber, tree, plant)
loko (inside)
'ō'io'io (chirp, chirping, chitchat)
ulu (assemblage, flock, grove; possessed by devity)
ulu lāʻau (grove, forest, thicket)

Disclaimer: There's no relationship between Hawaiian _loko_ and Spanish
_loco_.

Me ke aloha, nūnū maka onaona!

Reinhard/Ron
