Subject: german influence on afrikaans?

groetjes,

i was wondering if anyone could help me out. i have always understood that
afrikaans was somewhat (maybe a little less than i once believed)
influenced
by german (mostly plattduutsch, but possible some hochdeutsch  influence),
from
german colonizers mixing with established afrikaners in south  africa. so
far
all i've been able to find is a few loanwords from german in  afrikaans. i'm
trying to write a proposal to study the affects german colonists  had on
afrikaans, but i don't have much to work from. does anyone have any
knowledge of
the subject or could suggest someone who may appropriately answer  my
questions? it would be very appreciated - thanks

Oh, and please do not treat or even think of Low Saxon ("Low German") as
German.  Those are two separate languages, now officially so.
