I like this!

My attempt at Yiddish follows, first in the Yiddish alphabet, then in
YIVO romanisation, then in a more traditional German-based spelling,
and finally in Cyrillic:

Pivonye troyer
Bay lanternen likht bavunder ikh haynt nakt dos letste royt.

"pivonye" is my guess of the translation for "peony".

> >>PFINGSTROSENTRAUER
> >>
> >>PEONY LAMENT
> >>I'm grieving about the red peonies by the steps.
> >>There were only two of them left tonight.
> >>Come the morning breeze, they, too, will be gone.
> >>By a lantern's light will I admire the last red in the night.

Hi, Mark!

> I like this!

I had a hunch you might. ;-) I have ways of enticing folks.

Zeyer sheyn host du dos geshribn! Since we are a semi-official Yiddish
translator team already, I hope you don't mind a teensy bit of suggested
tweak action on my part:

  PIVONIES-TROYER
Ikh troyer far di roytn pivonies bay dem trepl.
Haynt ovnt zenen geven nor nokh tsvey.
Baym likht fun a lamtern vel ikh haynt bay nakht dos letste royt
bavundern.

I wonder if I have enough enticing power at the Scots end of things.

  SPAINYIE ROSE MANIN
A'm manin fer the reid Spainyie roses by the staps.
Thar's only twa o thaim left this een,
An they'll be sauntin with the wee-oors' sough.
The nicht A'll be leukin at thaim, fairlyin, by the licht o a laump.

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
