Hi Sandy et al,
I wonder whether the old store front mock auctions are still going on in London ?
There were a couple of excellent examples just off Piccadilly Circus for years.
The fast talking auctioneer would offer up some valuable item and bidding would
rise, a "plant" in the crowd would push it to maximum then...
"Sold for 20 quid but tell you what my friend just give me a fiver and it's a
deal !"  Another item offered and same routine with a different plant 
and a slashed price. Some poor mug would then happily bid high for something only
to be forced to pay the full price. Quite a racket and it was legal
at the time.
