Readers of the forum might like to catch the latest Melvyn Bragg radio
programme " Do you know what you're saying?" broadcast last Thursday on BBC
Radio 4. see the BBC website   www.bbc.co.uk

He used a company's speech analyser to work out what percentage of
Anglo-Saxon words people used in their everyday speech or writings.

The results ( even if imperfect - not sure whether every use of 'the'
counted or just once!) were interesting.
