Dear Lowlanners,

Re: Theo & Co., Cold Beer vs. Warm Beer:

---There is a germ of truth in many scurrilous stereotypes of "The
Others" and their strange and disgusting ways.

In and around Hamburg, a bartender usually asks when you order a beer,
"kalt oder nicht so kalt?", the latter being room temperature. In
winter, the storeroom beer can be colder than the refrigerated beverage.

Ah, now just a fond memory.

As many of you know, US-American beer, for the most part, can be
nauseating unless near freezing. Also brewed with rice, maize, high
fructose corn syrup, perhaps even polyvinyl chloride and Teflon.

And don't get me going about the distinction between US Budweiser and
Czech Budvar/Budweis.

  Arthur
