Subject: LL-L 'Politics'

Lief Lawlanders,

I've been meaning to post this for ages now, but keep forgetting. Back in April,
I read in The Scotsman that Maureen Watt, of the Scottish National Party, was the
first MSP to be sworn in in the North-east dialect ('the Doric') of the Scots
language. Here's the blurb from The Scotsman and the link to the article:

_Quine taks Doric fecht to Holyrood_

THE first MSP to be sworn in using the North-east dialect of Doric yesterday
pledged to liven up the Scottish Parliament with more expressions like
"ferfochan" and "fit like".

Old news, but rather nice news nonetheless. The wording is rather unclear, so I'm
not sure whether other MSPs have taken the oath in Scots, but in other dialects,
or if she's the first to take the oath in Scots, period. But a lovely step in the
right direction, in any event.

Fair faw,

Isaac M. Davis
