Subject: Low German in Kansas

Dear friends,
About two years ago, I found a web site as per the following adress. I was
much interested in this information on "Low German" in Kansas and contacted
the main person of the group. Since then,
I receive the news letter of "Low German Heritage Society" in Washinnton and
Marshall Counties,Kansas.

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/feb/28/ku_student_part/

You will find sound files attached the above. I don't know of which area
the Low German is, which the speaker, a woman, speaks. The person, whom I
contacted is now a visiting professor of Western Kansas University of the
German faculty.

I wonder if you know him Dr. Scott Seeger and the abovementioned .
information.

Best regards,
Yasuji ut Japan

Thanks, Yasuji.

If I remember correctly, the dialect(s) of Kansas was brought from somewhere
in Schleswig-Holstein a long time ago but has been developing into a
uniquely American one since.

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
