Dear Lowlanders,

As much as I encourage participation -- and please do participate! -- and to
intersperse your messages with lighthearted asides, I have to remind you of
what is now stated more clearly ion the Disclaimer page (
http://lowlands-l.net/disclaimer.php):

The LOWLANDS-L forum does not serve as a chat room. Messages ("postings")
from members are published bundled by topics newsletter-style. Interspersed
lighthearted comments are welcome to enhance a friendly, welcoming
atmosphere. However, in order to keep the volume of mail within a reasonable
range, postings must be based on substantial points of discussion and
relevant information sharing. Purely social interaction ought to be limited
to private communication outside the forum.

This is in part in response to a couple of recent "complaints."

Please do understand that this is not meant to be a damper or to discourage
participation. Essentially what we want to avoid is a one- or two-sentence
message without substantial discussion contribution ending up as the only
posting in an issue. The alternative would be for me to "sit on it" until
other, related posting submissions arrive. However, not only does this often
happen after a discussion has subsided but it is also organizationally too
complicated.

As always, I thank you for everything and encourage you to share your
interests and enthusiasm.
