Dear all, Mark in special,

in my yesterdays posting I wrote:

The saga tells, that a special group of people, a probably Celtic
tribe, living around there (near the Alpes) had invented a method to find
the *arch *of the meteorites.

Sorry - a real bad, confusing mistake of mine! I meant '...a method to find
the *'ore'* of the meteorites'.

This was a misleading German conclusion: G 'Erz'-engel, E 'arch'-angel, but
G 'Erz', E 'ore', not 'arch'! Describing the mineral German and
English derive directly from the same Old Germanic stem 'ar, ares', but
German uses the alike spelled and sounding word for Old Greek αρχι, Lat.
'archi-'.

*("Du bist mir vielleicht ein schöner Etymologe, Johannes!" ***g*)*

Allerbest!
