Subject: Traditions

Dear (silent) Lowlanders,

As most of you know, there are only about two weeks left until Halloween.
Also, as you know, in addition to its Pagan and Wicca equivalents and
overlaid Christian All Hallows Even, there is the popularized tradition of a
fun occasion on which to tickle the fancy and fears of children and the
young at heart. This British tradition that came to be stronger in North
America and in recent years has been popularized (commercialized) in other
parts of the world seems to combine traditions that in the old continental
Lowlands used to be separate, for instance the autumn lantern festival, the
New Years busking tradition and the witches and ghouls legends of Northern
Germany. Perhaps some of you care to discuss some of this.

As I've done on earlier occasion, I am giving you below some links to my own
