Hey Gary!

You asked about the differences between “try to” and “try and”.

To my understanding there is no semantic meaning, and a few people I asked
share this opinion.

It seems to me that these are merely idiolectically and dialectally
distributed. I hear “try and” more outside the USA, though you do hear it
here too.
