Beste Lowlanders,

Foetuses are already sampling language, while still in the womb, a recent
study found out.
While crying, newborn babies even seemed to show signs already of a nascent
accent. French babies were compared with German ones, and apparently the
French were initially crying softly, increasing volume after a while. German
babies however, did just the opposite. This was said to be the result of
German, typically stressing first syllables (intonation in longer phrases
was also taken into account):

Wonder what becomes of a baby hearing mixed sounds: German mom in a French
environment?

Kind greetings,
