 Hello Tomas,

I was happy to find, attached to your mail , the phonetic files pertaining
to the pronunciation of scores of words in various Germanic languages and
dialects. For most of my life after my secondary school days I have been
fascinated by the phonetics, phonemics and phonology of Dutch, Dutch
dialects, English and other Germanic languages. When I went through the
files, however, I was sorely disappointed by the lack of rationality and
consistency in many of the examples in those files. I was struck by a number
of weird transcriptions and by the fact that some transcriptions of nearly
identical specimens are highly divergent
