Beste Ron,

GMail after switching the blank e-mail page back and forth between HTML and
plain text. It is the only one that arrived in my own mailbox needing to
have its decoding chosen. Perhaps that tells us something, namely that
there's a gremlin that falls by the wayside in the process of that whole
rigmarole.

Your post on Etymology (Vol. 4) didn't contain any diacritics, I think.
I did spot line feeds and tabs though that had been erroneously converted in
a visible Â. This also applies to the other messages you sent today.
Usually a non-standard mailclient has no encoding problems on Mac, but in
"Technica" 2010.02.06 (02) [EN-NDS]", even none of my other clients
(Thunderbird, Entourage, Opera) were able to get rid of unnecessary  in
Hannelore's message. All three applications displayed:

"nu hett dat klappt Â

hier noch eins Â "

Kind greetings,

Thanks, Luc.

Whenever those silly characters appear (and I think they appear in place of
non-breaking spaces) you can be sure that gobbledygook would appear if there
were diacritics. They go hand in hand.

I got those silly characters also in the default form in which the message
arrive, but they disappeared as soon as I switched to Unicode encoding.

The other messages all arrived flawless and did not require decoding
switches.
