 Hello Michael,

I must say it is a heartfelt joy to hear what you are doing -- publishing
Alice in languages around the world! Since reading my first Alice (with
beautiful pictures!) as a little girl, I am an addict and have collected
several german translations and of course read the original (and everything
else by Carrol that I could get hold of :-)). Now if I _ever_ find time to
do it, I would _love_ to translate Alice into my Low German
(Holstein-Elbmarsch-Mixture). I am a rather experienced translator of
lyrics, you may check here http://www.plattpartu.de/wat/kategorie_lit.htm.
But I am so busy just now that I hardly manage to follow all LL-L-Mails :-|
If I find time I will contact you again. And anyway my veryvery best wishes
are with your project!!

Subject: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland in Lowlands languages

Good day to all.

It's been a long time since I was involved with Lowlands-L, though some of
you may remember me.

I'm back with a proposal which might or might not find favour with some of
you.

I'm now a small Irish publisher who has been publishing "Alice's Adventures
in Wonderland" in a number of languages. (To date: English, Irish, Cornish,
Esperanto, with German, French, Italian, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Manx,
Swedish, and Lojban(!) in the works.)

I wonder... would any of you be interested in translating it into your
Lowlands language? I've spoken with Sandy Fleming who seems keen to
translate Alice into Scots. That's a good start...

Would anyone else have an interest?

Alice offers many opportunities for wordplay and puns ("Looking-Glass offers
more but is accordingly much harder to translate) and, well..

Every language deserves to have an Alice.

The length of the text is about 27,000 words.
