Heather, you asked:

Was heißt "snaaksch", bitte ?

As Marlou said above, the Low Saxon word *snaaksch* (pronounced like
"snawksh") means 'weird', 'strange', 'peculiar' and so forth.

Supposedly a cognate, Dutch *snaaks* means 'jocular', 'playful', 'droll',
'roguish'.

I guess these words literally mean "snake-ish", perhaps originally in the
sense of "sneaky", "unpredictable", "conniving", etc.
