Kröller-Möllermuseum in Otterlo.

Thanks, Joachim!

For the sake of everyone, I present a rough translation of the Dutch article
you presented above:

*Van Gogh Cut off Ear because of Brother**
*
LONDON - Painter Vincent van Gogh cut off his ear late in 1888 because he
feared losing the emotional and financial support of his brother. Theo was
having wedding plans. This has been alleged by the British scientist Martin
Baily in the January edition of the British magazine *The Art Newspaper*,
British media reported Sunday.

Shortly before his self-mutilation van Gogh would have been informed by
letter that Theo and his girlfriend wanted to become engaged. Because of its
deeper meaning, van Gogh is supposed to have painted the envelope containing
the letter itself surrounded by a plate of onions in “Still Life” of January
1889, shortly after he performed the mutilation.

Baily meticulously studied the painting, which is owned by Kröller-Möller
Museum in Otterlo. On the envelope there is the circled number 67. This was
the official mark of a post office in Place des Abbesses, located near the
apartment of his brother Theo in Montmartre, Paris.

Happy weekend to all!

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
