Firstly: Thanks for the link to CAT Tool Compare. The pic is here:

Your translator has a good grasp on ‘la condition humaine’; I like him
already. Being a firm believer in the adage that “Insanity is hereditary;
you inherit it from your children”, I have forwarded the link to my son in
law, who is both an engineer and an artist…..  (I told you it runs in
families!)


Secondly: about “interpreters being incredibly resourceful folk”. I do not
know about that: True, if we lie, we lie in commission, but it is certainly
liberating to not be personally responsible for what comes out of your
mouth.


And finally about the mechanics of translation: It is like a dance. Maybe we
could learn something from the bees?..... Brownian movement anyone?
