Subject: L-L Afrikaans - Orthography

A couple of years ago I stayed for a week at Bloubergstand, North of Cape
Town.
I was confused with the variation in orthography: Blaauwberg versus
Blouberg.
I thought one of the two was English, the other Afrikaans.

But I see both used in Afrikaans on url:
http://af.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaapstad
dieBlaauwberg-gebied
(met Milnerton, Tafelsig en Bloubergstrand), Tygerberg (met Durbanville,
Bellville en Khayelitsha), Oostenberg (met Kraaifontein, Brackenfell,
Kuilsrivier, Blue Downs en Eersterivier) en Helderberg (met Somerset-Wes,
Strand en Gordonsbaai).”*
Are “blauw” and “blou” pronounced in the same way?
Do both correspond to “blauw” in Dutch and “blue” in English?

Blouwbergstrand is at the same hight as Robbenisland, North of Cape town,
in a mainly English language area, on the map

(The Belgian fries eatery “Het Frituurtje”, one block from the shoreline,
we reported about at the time, closed some time ago (unless somebody reopned
it)

 Regards,
 Roger
