Subject: Phonology

Dear lowlanders,

I have a question about something which stroke me in the Dutch of Frisians:
I've often heard them say things like
"Wat idder nou?", "Idder nog koffie?", "Hij wadder niet best aan toe" etc.
So Dutch is+er becomes idder, was+er becomes wadder. Of course in
colloquial Dutch everyone says "is der" and "was der", but it's only
Frisians, including Stellingwervians, I've heard this pronunciation with
-dd-, or even ither, wather (with English like th) of.

So Frisians and others, can you confirm this interesting pronunciation, is
it something directly from the Frisian language?

Oant sjen!
Ingmar Roerdinkholder
