Thank you, dear Marlou!

Well, try to imagine "listmastery" with the addition of sound and physical
interaction, e.g. me moving about in the classroom, perhaps lightly
brushing the shoulder of a student as a reminder to stay on task ... (It
would be nice to be able do this on Lowlands-L.) And, yes, there's the
occasional hug (which is allowed in this private school). Oh, and then
there are occasional tears (so far only from boys, mostly due to overly
competitive attitudes).

I've done a lot in adult education over the decades. Teaching children aged
10 and 11 tends to be far more challenging but also more rewarding. Some of
them are still "babyish" while others think and behave like well-informed
little adults.

Another bonus is that most children have a much easier time picking up
other languages (in this case Hebrew and occasionally Aramaic) than do
adults.


And community-building with the kids' families added yet another dimension.

This teaching gig may have taught me more than I taught the kids.
