The incidents the article refers to happened in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg
which is just one of many Bezirke in Berlin. The Bezirk
Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg issued a press release to counter the press
coverage it deemed inaccurate: http://www.berlin.de/ba-

Religious events are still allowed in the public streets of the Bezirk.
There was just one incident (in 2007) where a Ramadan celebration on public
grounds was not approved because the application was made on too short

they want the events to be open for everyone, so you probably cannot
exclude people of different faiths from the event. But I guess that is a
fair demand if you want to use public ground for your event. If you want to
exclude people from the event you can still do that on non-public ground.
