Besides, my wife and I leave for a cruise to Alaska in a couple of weeks, and I

think trekking applies there.  Well, okay, sitting on a cruise ship doesn't

involve a lot of real trekking (mountain hiking, dog sledding, rowing, etc.),

but it seems like a nice metaphor.</span></font></p>

</li><li>supposedly haunted places</li><li>special places for photographers, painters, musicians, etc. </li><li>advisable travel routes and modes of transport </li><li>customs and dos and don'ts in a country, area, city, village ...

</li><li>local eating habits</li><li>what to wear and not to wear<br></li><li>what sorts of clothes to bring<br></li><li>special local foods and drinks</li><li>what to buy or not to buy</li><li>security precautions</li><li>

places good or not so good for people with certain disabilities<br></li><li>what not to fall for (avoidable pitfalls)<br></li><li>costs</li><li>types of accommodation and eateries</li><li>how to make friends and enemies<br>

</li></ul><span style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;">And the list could go on and on and ...</span><br style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;"><br style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;">

I suggest sections or categories. One, for instance, could be entitled "What are we looking at here?", "So what's this about?" or "What's the story (behind this)?"  This could be a collection of blurbs about places that at first glance don't seem out of the ordinary but actually have extraordinary stories behind them. An example might be a certain street in Recife, Brazil, in which brightly-colored façades and "Portuguesque" additions disguise early colonial Dutch merchant houses. Another section might be called something like "Not for the faint-hearted" or "Don't bring the kids," and it could contain blurbs about red light districts or about torture chamber museums, for instance. (I know that kids tend to love scary stuff, but in my experience they can be traumatized when they realize the types of "justice" their lovely ancestors tended to mete out.) And to balance this off, there could be sections devoted to religious sites, places for contemplation or meditations, or places most children love.
