<div style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;">The primal Woden, chief of the dominant tribe of gods, the Aesir, in
Ingweronian terms was identified as Wode, an entity in parallel with the more
developed & personalised Norse entity Odin, friend of warriors. This Wode
rode Sliepnur, was god of the Storm & the Wild Hunt, & associated with
battle fury. Afrikaans for fury is 'woede'. In Afrikaans, as I presume
is the case in many Lowlands languages, many of the great abstractions
& forces of Nature survive in the verbal references to their ancient
domain... Freyer, vry, to make love, court & vryer, lover: Frygge,
vrug, fruit or vrugbaar, to be fruitful: Doner, donder, thunder, or to
commit an assault: Loki, verlok, to lure or seduce: To Woden's ravens Hugin,
thought, the Afrikaans has gehue, & to Munnin, memory, the Afrikaans has
gemaan, remind. & so it goes.</div>
