nou het ek 'n vraag by die rawe van Wodan. Van Huginn het ons die woord
geheue (geheugen). Maar is Hugenoot nie ook afgelei van Huginn nie?</span></font></p>

ek verstaan. Maar kom gemaan, aanmaan en aanmaning nie van Mannus nie? Dus van
die woord maan. Ek wil vermoed dat die woord man/mens en maan van dieslfde stam
kom. Vergelyk Ottomaan, humaan, Germaan, Romaan/Romein etc. Ook kom monkey van
die woord man/maan. Maar dat pas monnik hier ook bij! Ek wil verder vermoed dat
money ook van man/maan kom. Maar wat beteken die -ey in die auslaut van woorde
soos monkey, donkey, money, Orkney, etc.</span></font></p>

<p><font size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt;" lang="EN-GB">I was responding to a question about the survival or
memory of the ancient pagan gods & goddesses in Afrikaans terminology.</span></font></p>
<p><font size="3"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">"..Kom ons kyk na Woedan, die As, heer van die gode. Hy
is die god van die storm en van die slagveld,..."</span></font></p>
<p><font size="3"><span style="font-size: 12pt;" lang="EN-GB">The primal Woden, chief of the dominant tribe of
gods, the Aesir, in Ingweronian terms was identified as Wode, an entity
in parallel with the more developed & personalised Norse entity Odin,
friend of warriors. This Wode rode Sliepnur, was god of the Storm & the
Wild Hunt, & associated with battle fury. Afrikaans for fury is
'woede'. In Afrikaans, as I presume is the case in many Lowlands languages, many of the great abstractions &
forces of Nature survive in the verbal references to their ancient domain... Freyer,
vry, to make love, court & vryer, lover: Frygge, vrug, fruit or
vrugbaar, to be fruitful: Doner, donder, thunder, or to commit an
assault: Loki, verlok, to lure or seduce: To Woden's ravens Hugin, thought, the
Afrikaans has gehue, & to Munnin, memory, the Afrikaans has gemaan, remind.
& so it goes.</span></font></p>
