Subject: Travels

Dear Lowlanders,

There are two terrific additions to our budding Travels site (lowlands-l.net/travels/).

With his article "In Jabik's Footsteps: The ancient pilgrims' path of Saint Jacob" (
lowlands-l.net/travels/stjabik.php), Andrys Onsman, our resident Frisian Australian, shows us how to focus on a small community and illustrate its connection with a much larger area and indeed the world.

With his voluminous article "Land Hadeln: Where the Saxons began their journey" (lowlands-l.net/travels/hadeln.php) Jonny Meibohm (who had complained about my precedent) outdid at least himself by sharing a lot of historical and practical information about his native region and making it relevant to people anywhere, especially those in Britain. And he conveyed his passion as well as managed to make the area seem very inviting.

More contributions are needed, folks. Unfortunately, these latest additions do anything but remove the apparently existing intimidation factor. Believe me please: one-paragraph info would be just fine. It doesn't have to be fancy, and this isn't a competition. Besides, help is available.

Thanks in advance!

Reinhard/Ron
