<div>Sometimes you risk offending speakers of your own language, innocent though 
you may be.  A few years ago in Cornwall I used a word that had no untoward 
meaning to me.  My landlady let me know the word I had used was 
vulgar, not used in polite society, something I was totally unaware 
of.  It was a four-letter word used to describe a fabric with 
a long nap, beginning with the letters sh and ending with a g, used much 
like the famous "f" word.  I was glad to learn that, and am still 
reluctant to use that word away from my homeland.  </div>
