denk dit omdat je in het Hoogduits ook plaatsnamen hebt met "-hofen"
als woorddeel. Denk maar aan Possenhofen, in Beieren. Ik denk dit
temeer omdat het Hoogduitse meervoud voor <i>Hof</i> <i>Höfe</i> is, en niet <i>Hofen</i>: Friedhof - Friedhöfe, Bauerhof - Bauerhöfe.</span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">

Ja, Elsie, Dutch reserves this Latin derived word in the form of
"mossels" <br>
specially for mussels, I guess that's the same in Afrikaans? It's the<br>
favorite food of my Zeeland-Flemish mother, relatives of her were mussel<br>
