<p>XVIe s. La cuisine basse qui n'est pas seure, donnant la bassesse de ses
fenestres facile accès au diabolique boudin [pièce d'artifice] et à autres
inventions que nostre miserable siecle a produites, O. DE SERRES, 22.</p>
<p><b><u><font color="#000080">ÉTYMOLOGIE.</font></u></b></p>
<p>Berry, <i>bodin.</i> On a indiqué le latin <i>botulus ;</i> mais il faut
supposer quelque diminutif tel que <i>botulinus,</i> ou plutôt, par
interversion, <i>boltinus.</i> On a indiqué aussi le celtique : bas-breton,
<i>bouzellen,</i> boyau ; irlandais, putog, boyau, boudin ; kymri, <i>poten.</i>
Enfin Diez a recours au radical bod (voy. BOUDER et BORNE), qui signifie quelque
chose d'arrondi.</p></div>
