Are we still talking about the true Saxony here, or the "hijacked" Saxony we're still stuck with?<br><br>The mention of Angria (<i>Engern</i>) and Westphalia makes me assume that we're dealing with the true Saxony in an inherited title.<br>
<br>For those that don't already know: early original Saxony, later referred to as Northern Albingia, was a relatively small area at the northern shore of the Elbe's mouth; Angria being a later addition south of the river, flanked to the west by Westphalia and to the east by Eastphalia -- making up the Saxon domain already before eastward expansion. Rightly or wrongly, I am under the impression that Pat's general stomping ground in England, the eastern protrusion of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, together with Kent and the Sussexes directly to the south, received the earliest waves of Saxon immigration and settlement, possibly including direct migration by sea (rather than partly overland via regions that were then Frisian). My (perhaps wild) hypothesis is that it is these regions of Britain that originally were primarily Saxon for quite some time, and that it is these regions that promise discovery of some sort of Saxon continuum with the Hadeln region.<br>
<br>Let me also point out again Jonny's Travels article about Hadeln:<br><a href="http://lowlands-l.net/travels/hadeln.php">http://lowlands-l.net/travels/hadeln.php</a><br><br>It receives a good and steady number of visitors from all over the world, as does Andrys' article about St. Jacob's article. So there seems to be a good deal of interest in such historically slanted information.<br>
