I think "for good historical reasons" as they say, that apart from the
Hanse connection, the linkages between Hadeln and England have gone
unmarked (compared, for example with the links between East Anglia and
Holland, or Kent and the Pas de Calais). I think the 'good historical
reason' that the links have not been sought out is that this part of
the world has not had the prominence in English consciousness that the
others have had. It is in archaeology and in the smaller histories -
individual merchants and craftspeople that the connections are to be
found, but without the larger kings-and-battles histories, people don't
think to look.</span><br style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">
