time, in the 30ies of the last century, a lot of local teachers made researches
about local history. They still <u>had</u> access to meanwhile vanished
documents, and thus, with proper respect to all this 'Blut-und-Boden'-stuff, we

forget the Journals that were published. These often contain short essays on

indeed are very interesting, and I am (still) lucky to have an old neighbour who
has a big collection of them, partly dating back themselves into the 19th c. and
full of quotations from and transcriptions of old

those families don't sit on them, as they allow people like me to take a look
into their material, and as long as their sometimes really huge

idea for me. I've always avoided these organizations which try to sell
you a doubtful genealogy of your family, but there should be
