the EU did issue a standard for bananas, covering things like skin colour and
condition - and shape. But it was to eliminate highly distorted shapes
indicative of viral infections. Only one EU country had pre-existing
banana standards, so they adopted those for the whole EU, pretty well
unaltered. That country? the UK of GB and NI. So our
papers were ranting about us having our own standards imposed on us!</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;"></span></p>
