sure. If you ask people, most would relate spiskummin to "spis" =
"oven", which by itself is related to "spis" =
"food", "dish", accordning to my Swedish ethymology.
However, I couldn't find an ethymological explanation for
"spiskummin". To me the connection you make appears very reasonable.
It fits the pointy shape of the plant, doesn't it? But whatever explanation is
the right one - they both lead us back to lowlands (Dutch/LS) influence on the
Scandinavian languages. </span></p>
